Announcement — 25 July 2026

It is with genuine sadness that we inform members that Vic Waite has stepped down from his role as Acting Chairman of the English Bowls Coaching Society due to ongoing health concerns.

Vic has been a central figure within EBCS for many years. His contribution has touched every part of our organisation:

  • Leadership and stability during periods of change, always putting the needs of coaches and the wider bowls community first.
  • Commitment to coaching development, both nationally and within Berkshire, where he has supported countless bowlers and coaches.
  • Unmatched dedication to the day-to-day running of EBCS, including managing merchandise, manuals, member enquiries, and the practical tasks that keep the Society functioning smoothly.
  • A calm, steady presence on the Board, offering guidance, experience, and a genuine passion for improving coaching standards.

Vic’s work has often taken place quietly behind the scenes, but its impact has been felt by every coach who has benefitted from EBCS resources, support, and structure. His contribution has been significant, sustained, and deeply appreciated.

Although Vic is stepping down from his leadership role, he will continue to be a member of EBCS, and we are pleased that he will remain part of our coaching community.

Interim Leadership

Following Vic’s resignation, the Board has agreed that, until an AGM can be arranged, National Coaching Director Trevor Plank will assume the duties of Chairman. This ensures continuity, stability, and clear leadership during this interim period.

On behalf of the Board and all members, we extend our sincere thanks to Vic for everything he has given to the Society. His commitment, generosity, and good humour have been invaluable. We know the entire bowls community will join us in wishing Vic the very best for the future and in hoping that his health improves.
